With the departure of the vessel Maersk Yukon, San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI) dispatched the last cherry express leaving from the terminals in San Antonio Bay to wrap up a positive cherry export season, consolidating its position as the main port of departure for these shipments.

San Antonio, January 3, 2025.

During the season, STI handled a total of 15,300 reefer containers, of which 12,200 contained exclusively cherries, representing an increase of nearly 30% over the previous period. In addition, the terminal moved 48% of the industry’s cherry containers in the Valparaíso Region, reaffirming its leadership in the sector.

“This year we took a significant step to consolidate our position as the country’s main cherry container exporting port. The investments made in technology and advanced infrastructure readied us for a highly demanding season, guaranteeing agile, quality service. This success would not have been possible without our employees’ commitment and the shipping lines and carriers’ efficiency,” said Andrés Albertini, STI’s general manager.

Demand for this product is high in the Asian market, especially China, at this time of the year because of the Chinese New Year festivities, where cherries are a good omen and symbol of prosperity.
