TMAZ ends 2024 with sustained growth in vehicle, steel and breakbulk transfers
Terminal Marítima Mazatlán (TMAZ)—operated by SAAM Terminals—reported a positive balance for 2024, marked by a strong +20% increase in cargo transfers.
Mazatlan, December 19, 2024.
TMAZ’s general manager, Mauricio Ortiz, commented, “We have positioned ourselves as a reliable partner for our customers. Thanks to our investments, we now offer more than 20,000 square meters of bonded warehouses, which translates into cost savings and a competitive advantage. At TMAZ, we can dispatch goods promptly, with solutions adapted to market needs.”
In the automotive sector, the terminal stood out as the second-largest vehicle port in the Pacific. During the year, more than 160,000 units were transferred.
“Today the terminal has diversified its customer base and has importers from Asia thanks to more than five kilometers of railroad track inside the terminal to move steel, containers and vehicles with a high level of productivity,” Ortiz added.
TMAZ is also positioning itself as a key player for the steel supply chain, mobilizing +580,000 metric tons with growth of almost +100% in 2024. The terminal has a 5,300 m2 specialized steel handling warehouse with two overhead cranes. Going forward, this type of cargo is projected to increase by at least 5% per year.
TMAZ is preparing for 2025 where it expects to increase vehicle throughput by +5%, steel by +10% and continue to consolidate its expertise in breakbulk cargo.
